Thus, pictures and videos allow you to create a feature-rich interactive document that combines the power of words with an appropriate picture or a video for an all-round user experience.
It is rightly said that a picture is worth a thousand words. Thus, for the same reason, the new Office 2013 productivity suite offers you the ability to insert an online picture and a web video directly to your documents for a compelling experience. This feature makes it easy for you to find and insert pictures and videos from a variety of sources. The videos can be played with a simple tap of a button on your Word document, without the need of leaving the application.
Inserting online pictures into a document
- In the Word document, go to the ‘Insert’ tab and select the ‘Online Pictures’ option.
- Now an ‘Insert Pictures’ window will appear. This window allows you to directly insert online pictures from Bing Image Search, Skydrive, Office.com, and Flickr.
- Select the service that you want to use and type the keyword in the search box.
- Choose the image that you want to imbed in the Word doc and click ‘Insert.’
- To insert multiple images in the document, select the images by pressing the ‘Ctrl’ key and then press ‘Insert.’
Inserting online videos to a document
- To insert an online video, go to the ‘Insert’ tab and click on the ‘Online video’ option.
- In the ‘Insert Video’ window, select from the Bing Video Search and YouTube options and type in your keyword to search for an appropriate video.
- Choose the appropriate video and hit ‘Insert.’
- After inserting the video, test it by playing it inside your Word document.
Once the video has been successfully inserted in your Word document, it behaves like a picture. This means that you can resize and reposition it in your document. Videos in your document will feature a large ‘Play’ button that will allow you to easily play your video with just a single click. However, if you wish to change the video in your document, simply right click it and select ‘Change picture’ option to replace it with a new picture.
But, when you want to print these documents or export them to PDFs, the videos will end up in a static format and the ‘Play’ button will be removed to ensure that the thumbnail is clearly visible.
