The search giant has replaced its Android Market moniker and replaces it with new Google Play. But, this is no sad news for all you Google groupies for Google is giving you more in return by taking Android Market. Google has clubbed its bookstore, music store and app store and its entire repertoire of media including movies, web tools etc. into the new Google Play to make its Google’s latest one stop entertainment destination.
Google’s shift to new comprehensive Play Store
Jamie Rosenberg, the director of Digital Content of Google has updated the news on its Official Google Blog:
“Starting today, Android Market, Google Music and the Google eBookstore will become part of Google Play,”
Google has further explained that –
“In the U.S., music, movies, books and Android apps are available in Google Play. In Canada and the U.K., we’ll offer movies, books and Android apps; in Australia, books and apps; and in Japan, movies and apps. Everywhere else, Google Play will be the new home for Android apps.”

Who will get a free upgrade to Google Play Store?
Devices running an Android 2.2 version or higher can access this new store. If your Droid is still doused in Éclair, then it is time to upgrade to higher versions of Android dessert, at least to the FroYo. Google announced that Android Market users will see an automatic upgrade to the Google Play Store, while Google Music, Google Books and Google Videos apps will be found from Google Play Music, Google Play Books and Play Movies respectively.
