“Sharing is caring” – my mom taught me and that is what I am teaching my offspring too. But life runs faster than I do on my treadmill. My tight work schedule and loads of tasks pose as inexorable milestones to complete on my treadmill, thus leaving little time for pleasantries. Even apps on my iPad and iPhone cater to my news reading experiences, aids me while taking notes, shopping lists, scheduling tasks and appointments, assisting in my kids’ education, enhances my productivity, takes care of my fitness regimens, and also in running errands and in meeting similar demands of the day. I end up my day pitying myself for having no time to connect with my friends and finding out what’s happening around me. Sharing thoughts, photos, and words with friends and people around me has taken a backseat. But luckily for me, things started changing and very fast I realized that connecting to people has never been easier! It is no magic, but sheer technology. It’s just that I came across these social networking apps.
Path (Google Play and iTunes App Store, Free)
Connecting and socializing with people can be creative too. That is what I experienced on the Path social networking app. Path lets me chronicle tidbits of my life including my thoughts, books I read, music I love, my family, people I meet, when I wake up, and when I go to bed, etc. in the form of pictures and videos. Videos and photos that I shoot with Path are of high definition quality and they dazzle completely. I can get to share those through social networks like Facebook, Twitter, foursquare, and on blogs like Tumblr, right from Path. Only recently I started having fun with Pow!, a special camera lens that enables my iPhone 4S to add comic book effects to my photos.
Highlight (iTunes App Store, Free)
This social networking app became a highlight at the SXSW at Austin, Texas in 2012. Though it may make you feel a bit dizzy if you look at the logo for some time at a stretch, connecting to people around you definitely becomes super easy with Highlight. Isn’t it annoying when at times you may find that you aren’t able to recall a person you find familiar? Highlight comes to use in such situations that may take place anywhere – in the supermarket, the kindergarten, café or any other public place – it lets you find their name, their photos, mutual friends you have , what you have in common, etc. Highlight will help you remember and connect instantly. It also shows hidden connections around you and makes connecting with people fast and fun.
You can refer to and consider other top social networking apps like Sonar, Banjo, Glancee, Localmind (people and events both) and Forecast. Likewise, Gogobot will help you plan vacations with friends and family and also let you share the fun you had in the vacations. These apps can become a friend finding and meeting radar!
