Windows® Live® Mail

windows live mailA distinguished product of Microsoft Corporation, Windows Live Mail was formerly known as Windows Live Mail Desktop. It is a descendant of Outlook Express on Windows XP and Windows Mail on Windows Vista. Windows Live Mail is a free e-mail client. It supports e-mailing, instant messaging and word processing.

The below mentioned features and utilities explain the reason why Windows Live Mail is so popular and in demand today:

Photo e-mail

How do you like to share the beautiful memories captured in your digital camera with your family and friends? The obvious answer is by uploading the pictures on PC and sending them to recipients via e-mail attachments. But there is always a fear of the large sized mails bouncing back or the receivers may simply not have the time to download heavy attachments. Photo e-mail feature of Windows Live Mail comes handy here as it only sends the thumbnails (smaller versions) of your photographs. These can of course be enlarged if the receiver chooses to. Moreover, layout of the thumbnails is also in sender’s control. Basic photo editing and adding borders are also inclusive.

Multiple e-mail accounts

Windows Live Mail can be used to set-up multiple e-mail accounts including Google’s Gmail, Hotmail and Yahoo! Mail premium account. Not just that, you can also configure your different accounts in the software. This implies that you can store and view all your e-mail messages in one browser. It has a strong resemblance with Microsoft Outlook Express.

Automated spam check

Do spam mails flood your inbox every day? Worry no more now as Windows Live Mail is spam protected. If you come across any suspicious message, simply click on “Delete and Block” to remove it from your inbox. Any future mails from that address will also be blocked automatically. You can also control the level of security you want.

Simple interface

Most of us don’t like to work on complicated software that has rigid structure you can’t do anything about. Keeping this in mind, Windows Live Mail has incorporated a simple user interface that can be well adjusted to your needs. It lets you play around with colors, shift columns and change the layout. This in turn customizes your view and lets you focus on only what is relevant for you.

Direct blogging

If blogging interests you, Windows Live Spaces has this feature added for you. Just take out few minutes to create an account in Windows Live Spaces and enjoy blogging from Windows Live Mail. It can’t get much simpler than this!
With so many tools and utilities already at its disposal and a futuristic approach, Windows Live Mail has a long way to go. It has a big customer base using its free mail services. Users looking for higher and better functionality can opt for paid subscription as well. Try it to believe its caliber!
