ActiveX controls are among the add-on applications of Internet Explorer. It enables you to perform a variety of tasks like downloading applications and installing security updates. You may also share information using your browser through an application, as supported by ActiveX controls. Guidelines to enable ActiveX control and plug-ins
Launch Internet: First you need to launch Internet Explorer and click on the â€˜Toolsâ€™ or â€˜Safetyâ€™ menu. Scroll down the pop-up menu and click on â€˜Internet Optionsâ€™. This launches the Internet Options dialog box.
ActiveX and plug-ins: Then, click the â€˜Securityâ€™ tab and click â€˜Internetâ€™ in the â€˜Select zoneâ€™ box. Next, on clicking the â€˜Custom Levelâ€™ button, a new dialog box will open. In this new dialog box, scroll down to the â€˜ActiveX and Pluginsâ€™ section and select â€˜Enableâ€™ for the following functions: â€˜Automatic prompting for ActiveX controlsâ€™, â€˜Binary and script behaviorsâ€™, â€˜Run ActiveX controls and plug-insâ€™, â€˜Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scriptingâ€™.
Features selection: Select â€˜Promptâ€™ under each of the following ActiveX options:
â€˜Download signed ActiveX controlsâ€™, â€˜Download unsigned ActiveX controlsâ€™, and â€˜Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked safeâ€™
Download and Settings: In the â€˜Download and Settingsâ€™ section, select â€˜Enableâ€™ under each of the following options: â€˜Automatic prompting for file downloadsâ€™, â€˜File Downloadâ€™
Having followed all the above mentioned procedures, click â€˜OKâ€™ to save the changes and click â€˜OKâ€™ again to close the Internet Options dialog box.
