ActiveX controls are among the add-on applications of Internet Explorer. It enables you to perform a variety of tasks like downloading applications and installing security updates. You may also share information using your browser through an application, as supported by ActiveX controls. Launch Internet: First you need to launch Internet Explorer and click on the ‘Tools’ or ‘Safety’ menu. Scroll down the pop-up menu and click on ‘Internet Options’. This launches the Internet Options dialog box.
ActiveX and plug-ins: Then, click the ‘Security’ tab and click ‘Internet’ in the ‘Select zone’ box. Next, on clicking the ‘Custom Level’ button, a new dialog box will open. In this new dialog box, scroll down to the ‘ActiveX and Plugins’ section and select ‘Enable’ for the following functions: ‘Automatic prompting for ActiveX controls’, ‘Binary and script behaviors’, ‘Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins’, ‘Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting’.
Features selection: Select ‘Prompt’ under each of the following ActiveX options:
‘Download signed ActiveX controls’, ‘Download unsigned ActiveX controls’, and ‘Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked safe’
Download and Settings: In the ‘Download and Settings’ section, select ‘Enable’ under each of the following options: ‘Automatic prompting for file downloads’, ‘File Download’
Having followed all the above mentioned procedures, click ‘OK’ to save the changes and click ‘OK’ again to close the Internet Options dialog box.
