The app that landed on Android helps you create hundreds of new recipes and manage the old ones in a very convenient manner. This has six new Android –specific channels: Device, Location, Notifications, Phone Call, Photos, and SMS, each of which interacts with your phone. Here is how to use this app for different purpose.
How to use the activity log/timeline?
The steps to use the activity log/timeline are as follows:
- Select the recipe that had triggered over the last few days or weeks.
- Tap on it to view the full description along with the edit, delete, share, and turn off or on option.
- Some of your recipes even include photo and your location on a map, tap on it to expand the recipe event.
How to create a new recipe?
The steps to create a new recipe are as follows:
- Go to the timeline screen and on the left you will find your list of current recipes. Tap the small green slider to turn off a recipe.
- Tap the plus sign at the top of the screen and you will see the recipe screen with “If +, then + sign.
- Tap the first + sign to pick your trigger, and then swipe left and right through the carousel of channels to select the trigger you want.
- Now, pick an action in the same way like you selected the trigger, i.e. swipe through the carousel of channels to find the action you want.
- Once you have selected a trigger and an action, tap finished.
How to use location-specific triggers?
The steps to use location-specific triggers are as follows:
- Start a new recipe by tapping the plus sign.
- To select a trigger, pick the Android Device Channel, and choose “exit an area.â€
- Once you pick the trigger, IFTT asks you to locate the specific area that you will leave to set off your recipe.
- Now, you will see a map with your current location and a circle to unlock your preferred location. Once your preferred location is within the circle, tap the next button.
- Choose your action, for the recipe you just created. Go to the Android SMS channel, and select “send an SMS.†Now type in the phone, country code, where you want to send the message and tap to save, and then finish the recipe.
- To craft the actual message that is sent every time you leave a particular place, you need to select the recipe from your list, and hit edit.
- Scroll down to Action section, and tap into the Message field to change the text and make it something more personal.
