Popular social networking site, Twitter is now all set to add content from other social tools like Gowalla, Foursquare, Meetup, Amazon, AOL Video and Plancast. Since Twitter has integrated with these tools, therefore it will now be able to offer you access to more multimedia content from these sites while being on Twitter itself.
Since Twitter has added support for these third-party services, multimedia content will appear whenever you tweet out a link from one of these services. Formerly, Twitter introduced #newTwitter with third party tools like DailyBooth, iTunes, Ustream, YouTube and TwitPic which gave you the ability to see images, and watch videos directly in your Twitter stream. Also, last December, Twitter added support for five non-140-character-related services like Blip.tv, Instagram, Slideshare, Rdio and Dipdive.
Twitter is continuously adding new integrations, thus introducing some interesting features for you. For instance, when #newTwitter was launched, several startups created tools for embedding third-party content into the Twitter stream. Similarly, as Twitter now supports six more services, it will enable a facility wherein whenever your friends tweeted out a link from these services, multimedia from that service will appear on screen.
In order to make any content embeddable on web, Embedly is used. It is a platform which actually makes it easier for publishers and application developers to add the embedded media and engage its users. Y Combinator backed Embedly created Parrotfish, which is a plug-in that brings web’s media from more than 165 providers into Twitter. Twitter actually becomes richer through Parrotfish and gives all those URLs that your friends share in their tweets instant context thus enabling articles to become easily readable on Twitter.
Undoubtedly, these services will add more features to Twitter making it even more popular among women. These features would also compel more and more women to use Twitter.
