Instances of rekindling relationships and reuniting long lost souls on the virtual premise of social networking sites are not rare. Here is another extraordinary instance of two sisters meeting on Facebook, the most popular social networking site. And Facebook has once again proven to be an effective platform to search for somebody from the past or a long-estranged relative, friend or beau.
Sisters meet after 72 years on Facebook
This is the most recent incidence of reunion on social networking sites and it involves two Bosnian sisters. Both Tanija Delic and Hedija Talic are in their eighties, aged 88 and 82 respectively, fell apart when Tanija was 17 and Hedija was 11, as confirmed by Nezavisne Novine newspaper. Talic was escaping from their village with her families when World War II set in. During their journey, their parents got killed, their brothers fled to the United States and they lost track of each other. Later, they grew in orphanages and when grown up, they were living only 200 kilometers away. They had not seen each other ever since then back in 1941.
Reunion on Facebook
Hedija Talic settled with her family in a village around the northeastern town of Tuzla and Tanija Delic was living in a village northwestern Bosnia. Later, Talic’s son was searching for family images to find lost members of his family on social networking sites. This is when he came in contact with Tanija Delic’s daughter on Facebook. After they found each other, they learned about Tanija Delic and Hedija Talic and their family connection. And subsequently Tanija Delic and Hedija Talic reunited on Facebook in “tears and disbelief”. They are happy to share and reminisce “smallest events from childhood”
