Not a Facebook phone yet, But Facebook started offering free voice calls from Facebook Messenger App on iPhone in US.
Yep, that’s right. If you are living in the United States and if you sign in Facebook Messenger app from your iPhone, then you can now call your Facebook friends for free. We knew that Facebook is testing free voice calls for mobile network and Wi-Fi network for Canada-based iPhone users, and now it has launched free voice calls from Facebook Messenger app on iPhone in US. Facebook has launched this feature yesterday. Facebook has confirmed the availability of this new feature to The Verge.
So, how to opt for the free voice calls feature on iPhone?
To make a free voice call to another iPhone-based Facebook Messenger contact, simply
- Open a conversation window with the user.
- Tap ‘I’ button placed at the top right corner
- Now, select ‘Free Call’ option.
- Now, your call will be connected.
You can choose free voice calls over a Wi-Fi network or the mobile network of your phone. As soon as the call will be connected, the person you are calling will see call notification on their screen which may appear as “XYZ is calling”, similar to a voice call notification you receive on your phone. Hence, here is one more reason why you add people as friends on Facebook and install Facebook Messenger app on your iPhone. However, there is no news when this free voice calls feature will roll out on Android and Windows devices and in other countries. Presently, free voice calls feature from Facebook Messenger app on iPhone is limited to the United States and Canada.
