Facebook® introduces Facial Recognition Feature

Facebook buttonFacebook has recently introduced the facial recognition feature by which  it recognizes your Facebook friends for photo-tagging. Once you have tagged a friend on Facebook, the feature gets automatically turned on as a default setting. Now, whenever you or your friend uploads new photos, this face recognition software matches your new photos to the previous ones in which you/ your friend was tagged and suggests names or tags. Although this feature sounds interesting to many, there are others who may be scared of this feature as it may appear as a privacy threat.

Users, who don’t want to reveal their identity in each and every photo, may not like this feature. However, for others it is really a cool feature which will automatically tag their new photos.

Fortunately, for all those people who find this feature creepy, Facebook has come up with an option to disable it. No doubt, the feature turns on automatically, but it takes hardly two or three clicks to deactivate it.

All you need to do is:

  • Click on ‘Account’ tab on your profile page and select ‘Privacy Settings’.
  • Now click on ‘Customize Settings’.
  • Here, just scroll down to ‘Suggest photos of me to friends’ and simply click on ‘Edit Settings’.
  • Now click on ‘Enabled’ and select ‘Disabled’. Click on ‘OK’ to save your settings.

Now all you women who find this feature terrifying can take a deep breath as it has now nothing to do with your identity once you have disabled it. For all those who find this feature cool and exciting, this is a time to celebrate for sure.
