How to get more people post retweets on Twitter®?

In an era of social media, our social status quo is measured more by the number of daily retweets and followers than anything else. Getting more retweets and having a large list of followers is a sign that your shared content is regularly being followed and is found to be interesting. So, what are these retweets and how can you ask people to follow and retweet you?

Retweets are the posts that people key in, below your Twitter posts. The retweets start with “RT” and is followed by the Twitter profile name with a “@”.  The more retweets your posts generate, the more exposure you get as your Tweet will be seen from the person’s twitter posts after he/she has posted retweets. Hence, the more you can get to make people retweet you, the more popularity and exposure you get. Thus, in this way you can monetize the viral power of Twitter media. Now, here are some effective tips and strategies to get more retweets and followers –

The ‘Ask’ strategy      

Asking can be a powerful method as it has been a proven one to prompt people to send you retweets. There are tweeters who post retweets, even when you may not ask them to retweet, and there are those whom you need to ask to retweet. You can add some words in your Tweets that may lure them to click on links, share, and you can even ask to write retweets. You may simply ask like ‘Please Retweet’ or ‘Please RT’ and by using these simple words to your Tweets, you can encourage people to take action.

Add DM, value added content to asking

Add the power of value added content and ‘DM’ to the asking strategy to generate more trails of retweets. You can ‘DM’ (or Direct Message) to your close friends, asking them to retweet your Tweets. Direct asking strategy will encourage some initial retweets beneath your posts. Later, initial retweets will add value to your content and will push people to participate in the discussion by posting retweets.

In both these cases, you need to make sure that the content of your Tweets are relevant and interesting and shout aloud what your targeted audience want to hear and are excited about. Highly valuable and happening content and links will generate long trails of click-throughs and retweets.
