This time, this is really something stupid – isn’t it? Facebook has changed your e-mail address without even your consent and confirmation from you. The social network has removed its users’ e-mail addresses from their individual profiles without seeking their consent. Just check your Facebook profile, if you have not noticed it yet. If you are not willing to take it then, come back here to restore your e-mail address.
Facebook’s changed e-mail addresses to ‘name@facebook.com’ Â
On 25 June 2012, Facebook broke the news that has changed its all users’ e-mail addresses and has removed their old e-mail ids from the profile. It has created an e-mail address with a ‘@facebook.com’ instead of users’ registered e-mail addresses. However, it has only removed the e-mail address that is visible from your profile and has kept the e-mail address intact which it uses to send notifications of updates and messages. Now the question is that do you ‘Like’ it or do you want to claim your old e-mail address on your Facebook profile? Take a look at how Facebook e-mail address will look on your profile.
Can you get back your old e-mail address?
Yes, you can claim your old e-mail address from your Facebook Timeline and it is super easy. Here are these steps to follow.
- Go to your Facebook Timeline.
- Click on the ‘About’ beneath your Facebook profile page.
- You will be directed to the ‘About’ page. Now, scroll down to your e-mail address details section.
- Click at ‘Edit’.
- You will find your both old e-mailed addresses that you sign in with and the new e-mail address with ‘@facebook.com’. Click on two circles beside two e-mail addresses.
- At your old e-mail address, change to ‘Shown on Timeline’ from ‘Hidden from Timeline’
- At your new Facebook e-mail address, change to ‘Hidden from Timeline’ from ‘Shown on Timeline’.
- Finally, do not forget to ‘save’ the changes made. On making this change, you will notice that old e-mail address is visible from your profile.
So, that’s all you have to do to get back your old e-mail address. However, you can choose to show ‘@facebook.com’ e-mail id at any time, if you wish to keep your original e-mail address under wraps.
