Making Facebook® private

making facebook profile privateSince Facebook is a public platform, making Facebook private prevents and protects you from identity theft. You can be one step closer to Internet security by setting your profile to private mode on social networking sites. This will enable only those who are enlisted as your friends, to see your profile information and other details like photos, videos and other applications. To make your Facebook profile private, follow the simple guidelines, stated below.

Guideline for making Facebook private

First, login to your Facebook account at www.facebook.com. Once you enter your profile home page, click ‘Account’ near the upper right corner of your profile page, and then click on “Privacy Settings”.

Select “Friends of Friends”, “Friends Only”, or “Recommended”, review the settings to make sure that it has your approval, and then click on “Apply These Settings”. Alternatively, you can even select “Customize settings” to control who can see what type of information.

Next, you need to click on “Edit your settings” under Applications and Websites in the lower left corner. Edit each setting according to the level of privacy you desire and decide.

Click on “Back to Privacy”, followed by “Edit your lists” under Block Lists. This will block individuals and applications from searching and approaching you with friend and any other sort of requests in Facebook.
