Wearable devices not only alleviate fear of losing our devices, but also are capable of relieving the fear of losing our little offspring and grandparents too! So it seems that LG must have sensed how apprehensive parents feel and how they start panicking the moment their children moves out. Recently, it launched this cute, adorable wearable called LG KizON which will cater to parents to keep a close eye on kids. This is a wrist-based communication device that is aimed at primary and elementary school children. LG has designed this smartwatch in cute colors and patterns to encourage kids to use the device.
Design and functionality
Notifications
LG KizON is a made a water-resistant polythiourethane, water-resistant and stain-resistant wristband, splashed in bright colors. To entice kids even more to wear the gadget, LG has launched attractive accessories for its LG KizON including a Hello Kitty cover for LG KizON. The software in this wearable device connects kids to parents via GPS or Wi-FI connectivity to send notifications regarding kids’ movements, real-time location and other whereabouts to parents’ smartphones.
Calls
Other than sending notifications, LG KizON will also double as a communication device to allow kids and parents call each other during emergency. The device features a button to make ‘One Step Direct Call’. Children can simply press this ‘One Step Direct Call’ button to make a call to any preset number, whether their parent or any other local guardian immediately. You can change the number anytime you need to using the dedicated Android app the device syncs with. Similarly, parents can also call their kids and kids can respond using the microphone. If a parent calls a child and the child does not respond to the call after 10 seconds, the device will connect the call to tell parents about the current situation during the call using its built-in microphone.
Other features
LG KizON is made for prolonged use with long battery life. KizON is powered to run 36-hours long on just one-time charge. In addition to GPS and Wi-Fi, LG KizON also supports 2G and 3G mobile connectivity. LG has launched a dedicated Kizon Android app which parents can install on their smartphone. Once they install the app on their mobile device, users need to log in, set location reminders and set different time-slot to enable the device to send notifications of kids’ whereabouts during that time of the day. Moreover, the device will also send a low battery alert notification to parents through the app as soon as the battery power drops below 25%.

LG KizON is available in three cute color variants that are pink, green and blue. LG announced to retail debut the device in South Korea on July 10 and will start selling in Europe and in the US from third quarter of 2014. However, there is no new regarding pricing of LG KizON.
