Picasa allows you importing both; pictures and videos, to a scanned folder from a device. You can import pictures from various media such as from memory cards, digital cameras, camera mobile phones, CD/DVD, scanner and many more. First, connect the device; from where you want import the pictures, to the computer. After that, click on the ‘Import’ button on the Picasa main window. A drop-down menu will open. From there, select ‘import from’ to select the source of the photos to import. The Import Tray will display small thumbnail previews which will appear segregated into groups based on the time those photos were taken. From the ‘Import To’ section, you can choose to where you want to move the photos. Following are the ‘Import To’ Sections which should be the destination of your photos:
On computer: Choose a destination folder from the drop-down list of ‘Import To’ menu to save in a new folder by automatically taking the date such as current date or custom folder name. If you select ‘date taken’, the photos will be saved in separate folders.Â
On Picasa album: While importing pictures using Picasa, you can upload and share photos instantly. For this, ensure that you have selected the ‘Upload’ checkbox. Now, your photos will be instantly shared as you upload them on Picasa Web Albums. At that, you can share the online album with all your Google contact groups by using the ‘Add’ menu. You can also enable the member of those contact groups by selecting ‘Let selected groups contribute photos’ from the ‘Options’ menu. But, do you only want to upload and not share? If not, then, mark your photos with ‘star’ while importing and narrow down ‘Starred images only’ from the ‘Options’ menu to upload those selected pictures. Thus, you can perform importing pictures using Picasa and can upload and share photos simultaneously.
