First Instagram, Now Lightbox – Facebook® Acquires Another Photo Sharing Startup

Facebook buys Lightbox
Though Facebook and Instagram acquisition is still under the investigatory scalpel of the Federal Trade Commisson (FTC), the social networking behemoth acquires another photo sharing startup Lightbox.

 

What is Lightbox?

The Lightbox is a London based photo sharing app that spans on Android-based mobile platform and as web based photo sharing website. The news that it is now taken over by Facebook is shared by the Lightbox photo sharing app on its blog, for an undisclosed amount. Both Facebook and Lightbox are tightlipped about the amount the deal is signed.

What’s the story?

“Today, we’re happy to announce that the Lightbox team is joining Facebook, where we’ll have the opportunity to build amazing products for Facebook’s 500+ million mobile users.” – confirms Thai Tran and Nilesh Patel, Co-founders, Lightbox.
