Earlier we recommended using iPhone as a parenting tool to monitor your baby when you are traveling or at work. Similar to those baby monitor apps that send you video feedbacks from your baby’s crib, you can make use of surveillance apps to turn your iPhone into a security camera for your home. Besides, home security cams and gadgets are quite steep and are made usually intended for surveillance professionals and crew. Thus, those gadgets would be challenging for laypersons. I too hesitated and have been deferring spy camera purchase for months. But, finally I found these tech tools that I can use on iPhone that is no complex device like spy cameras. So, I have shortlisted these two following iOS apps that enable using an iPhone as a security surveillance camera.

Thanks to iCamViewer from CCTV Camera Pros, I do not need to spend an extra penny for surveillance camera. This app is available for free download from iTunes App Store. The app let users view as many as eight CCTV cameras or IP security cameras from iPhone (also from iPod touch and iPad) through Internet or through local network. At present, iDVR-PRO16 and iDVR-PRO8 are supported by iOS. Once your iPhone is connected to the CCTV camera or IP TV camera through iCamViewer app, iPhone takes photos and save in the digital library that you can share through e-mails.

Though it shells out around ten dollar from your pocket, but this Security Cam app has won the favor of tech review giants like CNET.com, The Industry Standard, Business Insider, Lifehacker, Macworld, VentureBeat, PC World, Technews.am. This app can convert your iPhone into an efficient security camera. Major plus points of this security camera app are still photo and video mode, motion sensor that clicks as soon as any movement is detected, an audio trigger, battery saving with a sleep mode, time and date stamp to see recorded footage and photos, frequency and motion detection etc.
