Be it about digital parenting or cyber crime, news on the latest launches or information on shopping, you can find interesting content on all of these and much more, only on Mizwhiz. As promised earlier, we are back with new updates on women who have made their mark in the field of technology. These power women have trod a path, less traveled and not just that, they have indeed made everyone sit up and take notice of it. Let’s once again pay tribute to these ladies who we surely look up to for inspiration.

The names mentioned in this article have been recognized by Fast Company as the winners of their 2011 list of “Most Influential Women in Tech”. This is the third consecutive year when Fast Company has prepared this list, based on the contribution these women have made in Technology.

The names below appear in random order and have been picked according to no particular specification. Each is a winner and we only wish to highlight them for our readers here.

Mary Meeker

An American venture capitalist, Mary Meeker is a partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. She has a colorful bag of past experiences to take pride in. Right from working with Merrill Lynch and Morgan Stanley to being a former Wall Street securities analyst; Mary Meeker has done it all. Her vast experience in the technology field has given her the inspiration and strength to scale greater heights. ‘Internet Report’ published in 1995, ‘Mobile Internet Report’ released in 2009, and being named as one of the ‘Top ten smartest people in Tech’ (2010) by Fortune magazine remain her greatest achievements till date.

Carolyn Leighton

With over three decades of experience as an entrepreneur and educator, Carolyn Leighton is synonymous to WITI (Women in Technology International), an e-mail network she founded way back in 1989. While working with Criterion Research, a technology consultancy firm that she had founded in 1985, she realized that the tech domain till then was an all-male industry and she felt the urge to bring a common platform for women working in this domain. Thus the seed of creating something like WITI was implanted in her mind. About four years later, WITI was launched with the sole intention of providing women a grip on “science and high-tech” fields. With her painstaking efforts, WITI has today transformed itself into an official trade organization with representations across the USA, Great Britain, Australia, and Hong Kong.

Cher Wang

A pioneer in smartphone technology, Cher Wang is a successful entrepreneur from Taiwan and one of the richest people in the country. She is the founder and currently the chairwoman of HTC Corporation and also VIA Technologies. Today, Wang’s company, HTC, manufactures smartphones that have greatly captured the US markets – one out of every six smartphones sold in the markets here is a HTC product. Her fine entrepreneurial acumen has given her company the edge and Cher Wang comfortably ranks at the top as one of the most influential women in tech.
