I usually prefer staying at home, to feel cozy in my haven and unruffled from the crowds of the city. Playing with my kids, seeing them in action and perceiving their wins and misses stimulate me to get the taste of the excitements. But I could not believe my eyes and ears what I just sensed the other day: my 13 year old kid has had enough of Angry Birds. “I have had enough of this slinging game mom, they don’t excite me anymore”. Could you believe in either? Now what and what’s next? Then I thought that my answers might lie in some crowded stalls of 2012 International CES show being held in Las Vegas. Thereafter, I decided to drag me from my serene haven to take me to the crammed site of Consumer Electronics Show. But, thanks to almighty I spotted the next level of gaming trend that justified confronting the chaos and mess in the Sin City! It was beautiful Fiona, a Windows 8-based gaming tablet launched by Razer.
Fiona, Windows 8-based Gaming Tablet with a pair of gaming handles
To be frank, I didn’t care who’s behind it, but his words banged at my ear, “It’s not Angry Birds,” and continues saying “This is hardcore PC gaming in tablet form” said Min-Liang Tan, the CEO of Razer. Mr. Tan, the CEO and the presenter of this Windows 8 based gaming tablet PC has made it an ultimate gaming machine to play all the PC game titles for gaming aficionados. Now a concept tablet, but will run on Windows 8 after the OS hurls the market. Though my first glance on its 10-inches screen found it no different than an iPad, but two gaming joystick stuck to make me rethink. The device is designed with two joysticks attached to the sides for players to operate the device better, take better control on their games and mimics their console gaming experience. The tablet was loaded with some PC titles and in one in which my son showed noticeable interests was Company of Heroes and Space Marine.
The tablet is powered by
- Intel quad-core Core i7 microprocessor,
- Windows 8
- The audio system certification of THX (is the only tablet PC so far to accrue this certification)
- 1024×768-pixel resolution,
- An accelerometer,
- Front- and rear-facing cameras and
- Wi-Fi
Playing games on Fiona will enable players use Metro touch screen interface, run an entire library of PC game titles, socialize while gaming and tally the scores of counterparts.
The only saddest part was that this Windows 8 based gaming tablet will not appear in the market before the end of 2012, for less than 2012. My son was disappointed when he knew that he couldn’t buy it anytime sooner – well, at least we both found an alternative to light gaming entertainment on tablet PCs.
They see it’s the future of PC gaming but in some internet communities, they despise the device actually.
