One of my readers, Sell my computer posted comments on my post on ‘Angry Birds managed to sling a record of 6.5 million downloads this Christmas’ stating that
“I’m expecting Angry Birds to hit some new sales this 2012.”
Within a couple of months, his prediction turned out to be true. Angry Birds has just released its latest franchise Angry Birds Space wherein Rovio has sprung its birds and pigs in the zero gravity milieu. The birds are designed to be shining and flying in meteor style and pigs are shielded within a bubble shaped spacesuits. No wonder why this Space edition is pulling fan base at an astronomical rate. Within three days of Angry Birds Space edition, Rovio has reportedly announced that the game has hit ten million downloads on Twitter.
With ten million whopping downloads, Angry Birds Space franchise has landed it on the road to breaking its previous records, and also of all top selling paid apps on the iTunes App Store. The astounding rate of downloads of a paid app has marveled mobile analytics. Peter Farago, the vice president of marketing of Flurry which is a mobile analytics company has explained Angry Birds’s download records this way –
“I can’t think of another app that has done this well, especially when you consider that they only have a paid version available in the iTunes App Store. The closest success story I can think of is OMGPOP’s Draw Something, which racked up 20 million total downloads in five weeks.”
This new Angry Birds Space edition has not only changed the game setting, but also added some new techniques the you catapult those birds. The game has included typical space issues like orbital trajectories, gravitational fields etc. You can find the game across all possible gaming platforms from iTunes App Store, Google Play, Mac and on Windows.
