What Can Your Apple® iCloud Contain?

iCloud is not just about carrying a piece of cloud, pouring music and videos as and when required. This one fluffy Cloud technology contains massive gigabytes of storage space to fit all our data in. So, what is this iThing?

Apple launched iCloud service with iOS 5 and iPhone 4S release. Siri Assistant, the sibling of iCloud which was launched alongside this service. While Siri kind of slowed down after the initial allure of talking tool and voice based program, iCloud is still going strong with its generous virtual storage space. So how generous is your iCloud service and what kind of data it has room for? Everything stored on your phone, iPad and notebook, precisely.

Basic Concept

This is a wireless storage space and service that is spanning over all Apple devices from iPhone, iPod touch, iPad , Mac notebook and Windows PCs as well. Hence, it can sync data and let you share and pick your data through all the devices. Once connected through iCloud, you get a ubiquitous, easier access to all Mac and iOS based devices and content on those devices.

Spreading and Sharing …

You can distribute your work in the following ways –

  • Buy music and apps on your MacBook and later you will get it downloaded on your iPhone
  • Once you capture images of your baby using iPhone, if it connected to your Apple MacBook Pro of your office, you can share your bundle of joy with your colleagues.
  • Similarly, when you leave a project incomplete at work on your office Mac or PC, you can access from your iPad or iPhone when you back home. You can simply pick the where you left it without any loss of data.
  • While you resize an image or make changes to the data, the alterations will be automatically on the data stored on iCloud.
  • iCloud supports wireless network of Wi-Fi and 3G. It automatically connects data through the network.

In short, with iCloud services installed on your Mac, PC or iOS devices, you instant access to all your contacts, calendar, e-mails, events, photos, e-books, apps and locate your friends from everywhere using Find My Friends app. Apple gives 5GB free storage, however I have decided to extend to 50GB with $100 each year.
