Do road trips and long drives remind you of a perfect picture of a happy family outing? Although your kids may be excited enough to nag you to plan for a family outing such as picnic or a long drive, continuously driving for hours on end may often tire them and they may become cranky and restless. This, for sure, kills the fun, even before you have actually landed at the location. Keeping your kids happy, while traveling, could be made less challenging if you carry any of your iOS-based handheld devices. All you need to do is to just download games on your iPhone or iPad and give it to your kids so that they remain entertained and engrossed throughout the travel. We have shortlisted road trip theme based games that even enhance the enthusiasm and fun of road trips among elders.
License Plate Game HD
Download this License Plate Game HD from iTunes App Store for $1.99. This is one of the mostly played road trip games among children and parents while traveling on highways. This road trip game allows your kids to keep a track of license plates of each state they see on the road. The iPad version of the game has links to Wikipedia to enable them to learn and pick educational information while playing. Your kids will be occupied for prolonged duration while you are left to concentrate on driving.
Road Trip Scavenger Hunt
This game can be downloaded for $ 0.99 from iTunes App Store. Road Trip Scavenger Hunt ($0.99) is the improved reincarnation of an old game named iSpy. This app has loads of things that your kids can spend hours in spotting them and earning points. Since the game allows up to six players’ participation at a time, your kids can play this game with their grandparents or other members traveling with you, in the backseat, while you continue driving.
A to Z – The Road Trip Game
A-Z – The Road Trip Game comes in three variations, which are again improved versions of an old favorite – The Alphabet Game. The app records scores of multiple plays, keeps history of past scores, and details of players who won. Road-Trip-Bingo HD is another famous iPhone game for road trips, wherein kids get to collect bingo style cards while they launch the game. Players have to find out 25 different items (usually noticed on road trips) that include cars, road signs, cattle, trees, milestones, and the like.
You can also try some mini iPhone game apps for road trips like Road Trip Fun (a guidebook to educate the rules of trips), Family Car Games (help kids map what they see next), Best Road Trip Ever! (lists memorable sights, attractions, and places to eat). Thus, your kids can engross themselves in games and stay happy and enthusiastic about the entire trip. If you have downloaded or come across any such road trip iPhone game apps that you would like to share with our readers, do not forget to share your experience by writing to us.
I always bring my iPhone with me when we travel. The kids love the options they have on there. They can play games, watch movies, and watch TV. I have the DISH Remote Access app through my provider/employer DISH Network, so I have access to all my subscription channels right from my iPhone or iPad. I have the Sling Adapter hooked up to my receiver and the kids can watch all their favorite shows live from anywhere we are at, and DVR recordings on the road.
We have 5 kids, and we always keep them occupied with audiobooks for the ipods. There’s a ton of sites where you can download them, but we use this one a lot because the stories are free and original.
