Amazon has come up with good news for all the Kindle e-book fans. It has announced that with the help of Kindle e-reader platform, users will be allowed to lend books to others. The ‘lending feature’ will certainly add more excitement for all the Kindle users. They will now be able to lend the e-books that they have purchased across a wide range of Kindle devices. Lending can be done for a period of 14 days.
Lending an e-book
Lending an e-book in the Kindle is very simple and there is no rocket science involved. Just go to ‘Manage your Kindle’ on the web and click on ‘Loan this book’. Then, you will need to enter the name and e-mail address of the recipient alongside an optional note. The recipient will get 7 days to open his/her mail address and accept your loan. If he/she doesn’t, the book will become available to you once again through ‘Archived Items’ after the specified period. You have the option of lending the e-book as many times as you wish, but you can’t read your copy during the loan period.
How to find lendable e-books?
You must keep in mind that there are some Kindle titles that are not available for lending purposes. The decision of enabling it for lending purposes lies with the publisher of the e-book. If you want to know whether the e-books that you already own are lendable or not, just go to the ‘Manage your Kindle’ section. Then, click on the ‘+’ symbol to show the additional details about the titles. In case, you can’t find ‘Loan this book’ button next an e-book that you already own then, you can be sure that it is not lending-enabled.
You can also know whether an e-book can be shared before you actually buy it. For this, you need to go through the ‘Product Details’ section. Surf over the webpage and look for ‘Lending: Enabled’ option. If you can’t see the option then the e-book is not eligible for sharing or lending.
How to lend an e-book?
You have two options to loan your Kindle e-book: one from the “Manage your Kindle” section and second from the Amazon website itself. You will be able to check the list of all your purchased Kindle content through the Kindle Library section. Just go to the e-book that you want to lend and click on ‘Loan this book’ option given under the ‘Actions’ menu. Then, enter the name and e-mail address of the borrower in the respective places and you are done. Even if your recipients don’t have a Kindle or Kindle reading application they can still receive the e-book. Make sure that you send your Kindle e-book loan notification to the personal e-mail address of your browser and not at his Kindle e-mail address.
