Meet the new generation dads this Father’s Day – dads who are plugged to social networks at the drop of the hat for seeking parenting advice and for other parenting purposes. They are known as digital dads for immense impact of digital media into their parenting style. And the count of digital dads is fascinatingly greater than ‘Average Joes’ or ordinary dads, according to a study conducted by Euro RSCG Worldwide.
Who are digital dads? Â
So, who are digital dads and how do they use Internet and social networking sites? To understand Internet usage of digital dads better, Euro RSCG Worldwide divided their respondents into two groups that are digital dads and Average Joes. Digital dads connect to Internet and social networking sites to learn and discover new strategies to engage with their family and kids, how to draw together elder and younger family members and enjoy a harmonious family time together. For this, digital dads are using social networks and online communities like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. The study even concluded that digital dads surpass their teenager kids or geeky 15-year-olds in terms of the propensity of using Internet media.
Do digital dads embrace social parenting style?
According to the study, both digital dads and ‘Average Joes’ types of modern dads are resorting to YouTube, Facebook and Twitter to form parenting communities, watch their kids’ Internet usage and monitor their kids’ social networking and online interactions over Facebook, Twitter, chat programs, and other online content.
